Anders Petersen

Workshop

14-18 June 2021
Santorini, Greece

About the
WORKSHOP

Anders Petersen is very well experienced at teaching photography workshops and has done so over the past five decades. This particular workshop is unique as it will be the first time he has taught a workshop on the Greek island of Santorini.

Petersen will encourge particpants to produce very personal photographs based on intimacy and rooted in real-life situations. The photographer will develop an intuitive ability to photograph and develop the skills and awareness to bridge the gap between the photographer and the subject. A heightened sense of ones reality is key to the execution of meaningful and hearfelt photography.

Santorini provides the inspirational back drop to this exciting workshop. The rugged, dramatic volcanic landscape, beautiful seascape horizons stretching to infinity, bustling tourists juxtaposed with quiet locals, all combine to make possible subject matter and focusing attention to fully immersing oneself into the experience under the Aegean sun. The workshop is hosted by Palm Tree Workshops in a beautifully restored 1800’s Captains house.

Anders Petersen is a Swedish photographer based in Stockholm. Petersen makes intimate and personal documentary-style photographs. His photobook Cafe Lehmitz, 1978, is a seminal body of work capturing the late night regulars of a bar in Hamburg. Petersen is a highly influential photographer of ‘personal documentary’ photography. He studied at the Fotoskolan academy and his mentor and good friend was Christer Strömholm. Petersen has published numerous photobooks as well as many exhibitions and awards. Anders taught an Art Foto Mode (Berlin Foto Kiez) workshop in 2017.
