This Thomas Hauser workshop is premised on developing an awareness of techniques in photographing portraits, fashion and nudes with a seriously quirky attitude. Hauser’s visual approach is straight forward and deadpan, yet he has an unusual eye in representing his subject. Both female and male sitters appear to be awkwardly postured yet their gaze is penetrating and strong, exuding a raw beauty. The workshop will influence participants towards understanding nuanced juxtapositions and contradictions within the frame, incorporating lighting, location, posture, photographer/sitter relations, environment and styling. Participants will be encouraged to work on locations in Kreuzberg.
Based in a Berlin, Hauser studied painting and has been a successful fashion and portrait photographer over the past fifteen years. His clients include; Autre Magazine, Fräulein Magazine, PYLOT, Dapper Dan, Another Man, Alei Journal, Ansinth, 10+, NUMERO. Hauser is represented commercially by The Link Management, and his represented by the gallery Laura Mars in Berlin.
